And the stars of heaven fell to the earth

12 I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold,[e] there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon[f] became like blood. 13 And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. 14 Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.


In the same week of the unprecedented event of the Pope resigning, (see http://endtimesevents.blogspot.com.au/2013/02/end-times-popes.html), there are two spectacular astronomical events - or events in the "heavens". Scientists have called these events as coincidences.

The first event is a large meteor falling down into Russia. About 1000 people or more have reported to have been injured and sought medical assistance. The size of the meteor is believed to be 15m but created a sonic boom and heated up the air into thick cloudy trails. More news stories are below.

The second event was not publicly revealed and happened after the meteor. This event is that of a large asteroid, about the size of a football field, just missing earth. It came the closest to earth than many previous asteroids of its size. Scientists knew when it would make its closest fly-by but the media did not make this widely known - why? Physically, these events are independent and have no physical cause and effect. That means the asteroid did not cause the meteor to fall down nor the meteor influenced the asteroid to fly by close to Earth. Hence scientifically it is a coincidence.

For those who know God, it should not be surprising to find that God had throughout history, moved His hand in a way to cause certain things to happen or event to show His people warning or a call to repentance.

This is the week before the celebration of Purim for the Jewish people (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purim). Purim is to commemorate the victory of the Jews when they avoided annihilation by their enemies. They way the Jews were saved was through very numerous events happening in an unrelated sequence - hence coincidence - which together enabled Queen Esther to save her people.

On the current world stage the events are:
- North Korea did a nuclear test
- The Pope resigned - the previous pope that did the same was 600 years ago.
- A meteor streak across Russia.
- An potentially lethal asteroid made a close fly-by to earth.

Pope Benedict XVI has reinstated four bishops from an archconservative breakaway wing of the Roman Catholic Church, a decision that is bound to stir controversy within his own flock. But Saturday's announcement that the Vatican will undo the 20-year schism between the Vatican and the so-called Lefebvrian movement is all the more sensitive because it comes only days after the broadcast of an interview in which British-born Bishop Richard Williamson, one of those Benedict is bringing back into the fold, denies that the Nazi Holocaust ever happened.


"I believe there were no gas chambers," Williamson said. The bishop, who has been accused of anti-Semitism in the past, declared that the historical evidence was "hugely against" the accepted belief that close to 6 million Jews were systematically exterminated as part of Adolf Hitler's Final Solution.
